When using finder window in a program, I cannot copy/paste filenames

I already tried a Dutch forum. When saving in a program, you get a finder window. Normally you could copy paste a filename from e.g. a barcode you created somewhere else into the filename and save it.

Or change filenames from other shown files. Or delete files. Within a finder window in a program. So NOT in the regular finder. That works just fine.

The filenames are grayed out.

I thought it was an extension, but the issue is on both the MacPro and the MacBook. Adobe CC is running on both Macs. Officially licensed. The next similar thing is Microsoft Office which is properly licensed as well.

What I tried

  1. Setting the privileges correct
  2. Doing a P-ram reset (that's oldskool)
  3. Disk repair
  4. Starting up without extensions
  5. Logging in as a new, clean user

Mac Pro, macOS 10.15

The NSOpenPanel and NSSavePanel Cocoa classes have been around for years, and when Apple compiled Pages v8.2.1 for distribution, you are correct that it picked up the latest frameworks. What may not be obvious is that Apple could have changed the functionality of these two classes (without documenting it) to reflect changes that they have made to Finder itself in Catalina.

My suggestion is to use Finder for its strengths, and just use Open and Save panels for that purpose.
