my video images are pixelating when I play or export. Why FCPX has never done this before?

I'm creating a short travel film shot on iPhones; when I edit my footage into my timeline some of the images pixelate. This is the first time it has happened. I've upgraded to Catalina and I'm using FCPX 10.4.7. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix. Or perhaps Apple could solve this very annoying glitch.
