upgraded my macbook pro (OS 10.15.1 )to catalina , now I can't use my 32 bit Microsoft office suite.

Office 2011 and earlier won't run in Catalina. If you have an early version of Office 2016, you can update that for free: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/troubleshoot/administration/office-2016-for-mac-64-bit-upgrade

It can be loaded on a separate drive partition running High Sierra or an older OS. Then you could boot to it.
