Cannot send email from icloud on iphone

I can send an email from my icloud account if I am logged into the computer; however, each time I try to send an email from my iphone, it gives me an error stating: Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server "p20-smtp.mail.me.com failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured for Mail accounts in Settings>Accounts & Passwords.

I'm not sure what caused this as I haven't always had this issue, and I'm not sure how to fix it or what to do. Could anyone please help me? (And yes, please dumb it down or I won't understand! Thank you!)

Hi Amy,

Let's try going to Settings > [your_name] > iCloud, let's try turning off Mail, and restarting your iPhone.

After you're done restarting go back and turn Mail on again.

Are you able to get Mail sending from your iCloud address after trying that?

If you continue to have trouble, it might be a good idea to contact Apple Support for further assistance with your iCloud Mail:

Good luck.

Hi Amy,

It seems you're having trouble sending mail, and I want to help.

These are the series of steps you can follow to send mail:

Are you connected to Wi-Fi when this is happening?

Do you have a VPN set up?

Let me know more about when this happens and I'll try to help.
