iphone 11 wifi problems / slow or dropping internet

Not a question, providing a possible solution to the many posts I see regarding iphone 11 and wifi drops / performance issues. I replaced 2 iphone 8's (both with updated ios) with an iphone 11 and 11 pro. Connected them to my home network (Netgear r8500) and had the same problem I see documented in several places. Phones stay connected to wifi but lose internet connection repeatedly.

Suggestions of resetting the router, the phone, the connection, etc. get things improved for a few minutes then back to dropping. Had zero problems with the iphone 8's (or any of the many other devices) on my home network.

I lowered the network bandwidth from the highest possible speed to a moderate speed (ex. 1000 down to 433 mbps on my 2.4mhz connection). Applied the change and the issues resolved on both phones. On Netgear this is under wireless setup, parameter Mode. Hope this helps someone.
