Has the issue of Airplay 2 being setup on Apple TV ever been resolved?

Has the issue of Airplay 2 being setup on Apple TV ever been resolved? I get a notification that I need to complete setup of AirPlay and HomeKit and that drills down to Finish Home Set Up. But when I click that I get a Start Using AirPlay 2 with instructions: 1. Unlock your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch., 2. Turn on Bluetooth on your device., 3. Hold the device close to this Apple TV.

I do all of this and nothing happens and the notification is still there.

Hi FrankPretzel!

Thanks for clarifying further. Please go to Settings, then iCloud, then ensure that Home is toggled on. Also please ensure that iCloud Keychain is enabled under iCloud Settings. Next, please make sure that Home is installed on your iPhone. If it's not installed, please install it from the App Store. Once you've checked these things, please restart both the Apple TV and the iPhone.

Hello Jeremy,

The alert is not is Users and Accounts. It is in AirPlay and HomeKit > Finish Home Setup. As you can see from the images posted below. They are in order of depth within the Settings App. I tried to follow the instructions on the last one and nothing happens on my Macbook Pro (signed into my apple id) or my iPhone (signed into my apple id).

I tried logging out of my Apple Id account on the Apple TV but don't know how you do that. How do you logout of an Apple ID on Apple TV? The only option I see is to remove a user.

Thanks,

Frank

I have this same issue and it crippled my HomeKit automations. When I try to enable Airplay 2 it fails. I was able to finish this configuration a few days ago and things worked again but last night HomeKit stopped being accessible and once again I was prompted to finish the airplay 2 config on my Apple TV and it is failing again. HomeKit states “Loading accessories and scenes” but never completes

There is one way out of this, but it is not particularly pleasant. You can from the system settings reset your device back from factory settings and start the setup process over again. I have noticed with my devices (both of them so it isn't likely that I have one with bad hardware) is after enough system updates the configuration seems to get corrupted.
