Underlined text messages leading to photo sharing

Hi there, I received a text from a friend that said, “I’ll give it a shot”. Shot was underlined. I’ve seen underlined words in the past and was aware that if you click on them you can be routed to wiki pages or your calendar for scheduling.

But I haven’t seen the word shot underlined. Seemed weird. So I clicked on it and it opened my photos. I told the person I was texting it opened my photos and he said he could see my photos too. Is this a bug? If so, it’s a really creepy breach of privacy that needs to be fixed right away. How can I turn it off?

Hi Sterling,

My friend said they could see the photos I was looking at as I opened my photos. They were not looking at shared albums or photos. We do not have any shared albums. It sounded like there was some sort so screen sharing happening during the time I was browsing my photos after clicking the word 'shot'. Seems really weird.

I turned off Siri suggestions to prevent this from happening again.

I talked to Apple the other day after I created this post. They said they're looking into it. Until then, I'm just going to keep Siri suggestions off.

I know you mentioned a concern about the recipient suddenly being able to see your photos. When your friend stated, "I'm in your photos too", were they referring to being able to see just the photo(s) you shared in the thread? Or, did you speak to them directly, to confirm what they were actually seeing on their end when this event took place?
