Maintaining a synchronized local backup of iCloud Drive

I use iCloud Drive extensively, but would like to keep a backup on my local NAS.

While it's straightforward to make a one-off copy of all the files, what's the best way to keep that backup synchronized?

I noticed there’s a Backup folder at user/Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup. Are these my iOS device backups? I do not want to lose those. But what about user/Library/Mobile Documents? Time Machine will sync hourly to the NAS. You can either back up the entire computer or exclude whatever you don't want backed up.
