I am trying the pinch-in & now have the little box floating keyboard. Thank you. Now if I eventually want to go back to the docked keyboard, how do I go about that since I no longer see the keyboard icon?

Simple - reverse the gesture. Touch with two fingers - and spread apart to restore the full keyboard.

With the keyboard open, perform a pinch-in gesture and the keyboard will shrink down to a floating keyboard.
