New battery charge

Just got a replacement battery for my 2012 macbook pro, thr manual says to charge it for 12 hours then drain until 7%I have read that you need to just charge it until it's green and then let it sit for two hours I'm not sure how to charge this new battery

Be sure you have charged your new MacBook Pro completely. This requires it to be connected to the power adapter for Many Hours beyond the point where it says 100 percent charged. Best results are obtained from leaving it connected overnight while powered off. It will NEVER over-charge.


In the morning, use the procedures in this article to reset the System Management controller. Be sure to use the keys in the EXACT locations specified -- the keys on the other side of the keyboard with the same labels are not "wired in" and will not do the job:

Deep discharge is no longer recommended. You should first try to get the SMC trained by showing it where the real top-end is (only).
