Hello, I've smashed my iPhone XS screen and Apple list the charge at £282, while third party ISmash are quoting £170. Are there disadvantages to going with a third party? And does it void my warranty (expires in April). I don't have AppleCare.

Not only will it void any remaining warranty, it will most likely result in Apple refusing to service it under any circumstances, in or out of warranty at any point in the future.
Unauthorized 3rd parties do NOT have legitimate access to genuine Apple parts. If they tell you they do, they are lying. The only possible sources for parts are stolen parts, salvaged parts, and counterfeit / knockoff parts.

Of course iSmash is cheaper - used/salvaged parts are cheaper, and knockoffs or counterfeits are even cheaper still. Only Apple or an Apple authorized repair center have access to OEM new replacement parts. And only they guarantee their work for the remainder of your warranty, or 90 days (whichever is the longer period).
Thanks KiltedTim, I had the same concerns however ISmash seem legit and have a good Trustpilot rating. I’d also read that Apple have changed their policies on voiding warranties where the screens had been repaired by a third party but I’m not sure how true that is if anyone can clarify?

That's something you should ask Apple directly.
It would depend upon what sort of problem you took the phone into Apple with after getting the 3rd party screen but they have not changed the fact that they will require you to put an Apple screen on it prior to doing anything else with the iPhone. So you could get to pay for your screen twice.
