Magic Mouse 2 - Slow to Connect at Startup

A question similar to this has been asked before, but without a resolution.

My Magic Mouse sitting 18 inches away from my MacBook Pro, with nothing else in between interfering with the signal, and bluetooth turned on, with me clicking buttons on the keyboard and clicking on the mouse, it takes a minute or two for the mouse to get connected. A regular bluetooth mouse connects faster.

Does anyone know if there is a setting that needs to be fixed or should I return the Magic Mouse and get a $10 logitech mouse?

Thanks.

Just in case anyone else stumbles through - I have read in other forums that for the seamless connectivity of the bluetooth mouse it needs to be powered on before the computer is powered on, otherwise it is going to take a while.
