Cannot sort photos by name in Photos
After upgrading to macOS Catalina it is no longer possible to sort photos in Photos by Name.
Does anyone have a fix or shall I wait for a new version of macOS Catalina?
Thanks Flemming

What do you mean by "sort by name"? Sorting by the filename or sorting by the titles?
Sorting by the filename has never been supported in Photos, only by the title, and only in albums or smart albums you create by yourself.
You can still sort photos in Catalina by the title in any album you create yourself, just like before in Mojave. But Photos 5.0 on Catalina handles the titles differently from Photos 4.0 on Mojave. In Photos 4.0 the filenames would be used as a title, if a photo does not have a title, when we sort the photos in an album by the title. Photos 5.0 is only using the the "real" titles of a photo when sorting by the title. The filenames are no longer used as a default title, when we sort by the title.
To be able to sort by the filename, you have to copy the filename to the title and turn it into a real title. I am using an Apple Script to prefix the titles with the filename.

I have turned my reply into a new user tip: Changes to "Sort by Title" since Photos 5.0 … - Apple Community
Comments are welcome.
Thanks Léonie
Using the script you provide via the other discussion solved the sorting problem
