iPad Pro with Pro Keyboard, iOS 13.1.3: Globe key selection intermittently fails to change keyboard

I use a few language keyboards. It is often the case that when I switch from, say, Language A back to English, the selection doesn’t “take”, i.e., I often have to again switch—back from English to another keyboard, and then back to English again—to have the change take effect. This is a rather annoying but persistent—if also intermittent—problem.

I suppose it could be hardware, but the Globe switch works to bring up the language selections on-screen, so I don’t think it’s hardware-based. It seems more like the on-screen selection (tap) doesn’t properly register all the time.

Anyone experience this problem and perhaps have a solution?
