Phantom 'Flagged' message count (11) but all emails have been deleted completely from all mailboxes.

How do I zero the 'Flagged' count tally?

Thank you for your reply, 'Allen A'.

To cut a long story short, the answer to my issue was that although I was certain that all my email accounts had been completely drained, I had missed one!

In a Gmail a/c, I discovered that there were 11 emails buried in an archive folder which, sadly, was not visible on the page with all the other folders. Had I noticed on previous visits/checks that there was information beyond the bottom of my screen that required use of the SCROLL facility!!!…….I would never have encountered the problem.

Once recovered, moved to 'Mail' and un-flagged, normal service was resumed. Still kicking myself!

Anyway, I am currently compiling a list of every website where my Gmail address is held with a view to changing all to one of my Apple addresses or aliases. Google maps may be the best around but I don't Google in my online world for a variety of reasons. It's enough, sharing my information with Apple and I have been happy with them for over 20 years but the all-consuming Google is not for me and I am in the process of divorcing myself from everything online that involves Google.

Once again Allen, many thanks for the response. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020.

Hi sodpark,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with Mac Mail and deleted flagged messages. It sounds like all mail is deleted, but you still see 11 messages as being "flagged".

Have you completely quit and relaunched Mail? What about after restarting the Mac?

Since all emails have been deleted, have you tried completely removing the account? Add or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac. If you want to add it back, you can do that as well and see if the "phantom flags" return.

Let me know how that goes.

Have a fantastic day!
