I've just updated to Catalina 10.15.2, and this little icon appeared. I'm not sure if it arrived with the update or when the update "hung up" and had to be reinstalled. I've looked to see how I can remove it, but haven't found anything. How do I get rid of it?

When Voice Control is enabled, you see an onscreen microphone representing the mic selected in Voice Control preferences.
