Safari version 13.0.4 enable cookies

On Safari version 13.0.4, my bank's bill pay is saying that cookies are not enabled. Another device's safari is version 13.0.3 and there is no problem. I have the 'Block all Cookies' unchecked.

Both devices 'Security' and 'Privacy' settings are the same.

Is there a problem with the new version 13.0.4?

Chrome works fine.

Hello skip259,

Thanks for posting your question about Safari on your Mac. I understand you're running into some issues with an alert related to cookies.

To verify, which exact macOS version are you using under Apple menu () > About This Mac?

Have you seen similar alerts on any other websites?

To troubleshoot, I recommend booting your Mac into safe mode first. This runs a diagnostic/repair and prevents certain items from loading, and will help to rule out some software causes: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac. After you boot into safe mode and test the issue, click Apple menu () > Restart to get back to normal.

Next, it may help to test in a newly-created administrator account. This will tell you if the issue is specific to your user account, or if it's system-wide: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Once you've tested both, reply back with the results. Take care!

To anyone still following this, I found another potential solution that does not require using Chrome if you are already on Mojave.

The Safari Technology Preview can be installed without disturbing your current installation of Safari or MacOS:

https://developer.apple.com/safari/technology-preview/

The current preview version 97 does not have the cross-site cookie bug (the Prevent Cross Tracking option works as intended) and also does not have that annoying Safari 12.1 behavior of auto-submitting login forms when you use user/password fill.

The downside is that it keeps its own set of bookmarks and history so you might need to do a little work to copy over your bookmarks.

If you go to the Safari Technology Preview download page, DO NOT repeat DO NOT download Safari Beta versions. If they don't work you are basically screwed. The Safari Technology Preview can be simply dragged to the Trash if you decide not to use it.

I am hoping that since the preview doesn't have the cookie bug that Safari 13.0.5 will fix it as well.

Alright, I finally got it! Here is, specifically, how I got my bill pay to load:

  1. I was on another site and checked the box for Prevent Cross-Site Tracking
  2. with the box checked, I logged in to my bill pay and received the error message regarding cookies (discussed earlier in the thread)
  3. while looking at the error message, I unchecked the Prevent box and pressed the "reload this page" button at the top of the browser on the right side of the address box. ( I think my previous attempts failed here because I closed the tab and then opened a new tab to try bill pay. This time I never left the bill pay error page)
  4. bill pay now works!

Safari > Preferences > Privacy

Website tracking: Uncheck the box beside "Prevent cross-site tracking".

Cookies and website data: Uncheck the box beside "Block all cookies".

Visit the site in question.

Click Safari in the menubar and then "Settings for This Website..."

Website preferences window will popup.

Click inside the box next to "Pop-up Windows" and choose "Allow".

MacOS High Sierra - 10.13.6

Safari - Version 13.0.4 (13608.4.9.1.4)

Another user account on the Mac experiences the same issue.

So far, this is the only site that I've noticed a problem with cookies.

Using a MacBook Pro, with Safari 13.0.3 does not experienced this issue.

I have not tried rebooting in Safe mode. Will that tomorrow.

And I have unchecked the Prevent cross-site tracking.

I'm having the same problem on a site that has 2 domains that share cookies through an <iframe>. Up until now disabling "Prevent cross-site tracking" has always allowed the site to work. Now with Safari 13.0.4, it's like the option does not disable even when you uncheck the preference. This is failing on High Sierra and Mojave after Safari was updated, but oddly enough it seems to work on Catalina with the limited testing I did.

Toggling the option on and off as suggested in the Reddit thread did not work for my site.

Chrome and FireFox continue to work fine when the appropriate 3rd party cookie sharing options are enabled.

This version of Safari is seriously broken and there is no way to go back. You can't restore a previous version of Safari from Time Machine without restoring the entire OS. These are serious design failures.

Edit: I should add that I was updating from Safari 12, so I cannot verify if 13.0.3 would have worked or not.

Many Websites no longer load and give a Message stating that Cookies are not enabled although I have Prevent Cross Site Cookies unchecked. I have even tried turning it off globally, nothing fixes this I can find. This is since installing the Latest Updates to Catalina 10.15.2 and Safari Version 13.0.4 (15608.4.9.1.3). Any actual fixes out there? Nothing suggested here works.

Glad I read through ALL of the threads before trying anything. Thanks to those who tried working through some of the suggestions/fixes. I also have had the same issues since updating to 13.0.4 on my iMac, late 2013, High Sierra 10.13.6. Like some of you I had tried the simple fixes under system preferences to no avail and then found this thread. My older iPad and iPhone XR have no issue accessing my banks website and making payments. This needs to be addressed and fixed. Don't want to go to Chrome and in fact can't go to Chrome on my iMac. Help us Apple! Give us an early Christmas present.

Not sure why you say you can't go to Chrome on your iMac? I certainly understand why you would not want to as it is slower, more resource intensive and requires more storage than Safari. I am currently using it to get to those websites that no longer work in Safari, but keeping Safari as my Default Browser. Since you have access to the sites you need on your iPad and iPhone XR this may not be something you want to do. But for me, I prefer to Browse Important Sites on my Mac so I bit the bullet and temporarily installed Chrome until Apple fixes Safari.

It is a pain in the backside and Apple needs to fix this ASAP. I am sure their argument will be these sites use non-standardized design, use Flash, are insecure or some other crap, but if they are that bad why do they still work on my iPad Pro, my iPhone on Safari and on my Mac using Chrome? Don't make excuses Apple just fix it.
