iPhone 4 bumpers scratch stainless steel band!

Beware guys...I received my black bumper about a week ago now. Took off the bumper tonight to clean my phone down and there are scratch marks on the steel band from the bumper (this is caused from the pieces of hard plastic on the underside of the bumper. Not a happy camper here...

Apple replaced the handset and admitted the inside of the bumper was very sharp inside. They gave me a new iPhone 4 and new Bumper.

I will be using an iPod sock until the official Sena case is released next week as I don't want to risk scratching the new one..

Guess what though the new handset has a very rubbery click with the sleep button! Not the nice solid usual click. Oh well beggers can't be choosers!!!

I was on the phone with apple care specialist and told her that I was hearing reports of this happening. And told her that if my steel housing would get scratched form using and iphone bumper that they well replace your handset with a new one. So guys don't worry about use the phone enjoy it, and if you happen to get scratches on the metal band just take it back to apple for a new phone. Hope this relieves some of your worries.

So I take my bumper off then lo and behold, I have a scratch/mark on top between the jack and sleep button. I examine the bumper and found a dark dot with a sharp point exactly matching the position of the scratch mark. It's hard and definitely not plastic. I have the blue bumper and so this spot is very obviously there. I tried to buff it down and it won't come off.

Here's my dilemma. I haven't had any problems with my iP4 and I'm worried that if I exchange it for a new one, my luck might run out and get one of the problematic ones. Aaaah! What to do? Do they give you a brand new replacement?

Let me get this straight. The bumper scratched the stainless steel around the phone. You notice it when you remove the bumper. However, you will always keep the bumper or case on it to protect it, so, in essence, you wont see the scratch. Hmm. Not sure I understand the problem.

And for heaven's sake, it's not the frickin Hope diamond. It's a PHONE!!!!!

So what? You are dictating how much the iPhone 4 is worth to some of us? Perhaps for some of us, as sad as it sounds, yes it is worth as much as a expensive diamond. So what? What's your beef with us? We are here to expose the facts that we are not happy with. Does that bother you? OMG, people a calling us anal... At least we are anal with objects not with people like some of the posters!! Love your phone kids! 🙂
