iPad won’t charge

I bought this iPad earlier this year. From the onset the iPad would only charge when completely dead. I tried returning it to the store, but because I bought insurance with the device, I was told to contact the insurance company. Assurance said that since I bought the device with this issue I should contact the manufacturer. Long story short, the iPad will no longer charge. Need this issue fix, since my kid is now share my iPhone since his iPad no longer works.
