Battery drain while using Hotspot

When I use hotspot through bluetooth, the battery of my iphone 6s drains fully within 1.5 hours. Is this expected?

The maximum capacity of my battery is 81% as per my battery health.

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

How long is a long time? How many devices are connected to your hotspot, what tasks are they running, and how good is the signal you are getting on LTE. Also, Bluetooth will drain it faster than a WiFi hotspot connection.

You may have been using this iPhone for only 2 years but you probably weren't the first owner. You need to replace the battery in that iPhone and then try using WiFi for your hotspot connection.

You could be at end of battery life

But to answer your question, you should only need one full charge maybe two bigger charges ALL day for about 4-6GB of data on hotspot with the 6, not sure about the 6s

Iphone 11 Pro, I can get much more than the 6

right now I am at 2 GB and been solidly using phone and hotspot since about 7:30 AM

I'm at 59%

before the last iOS update I would be higher on battery, but I am getting drain with the newest iOS

Lots of factors to consider

But age & battery near 80% say it's about time for battery to fully die at that rate,

if you have had it in solid use for several years, just spend the money and get another battery now

two years and a long time not more than a few hours on hotspot. That’s telling me you probably need a battery soon.

my 6 even when it died after a few years gave me hit spot with 3 charges all day the original and two others toward the end of life when new only the over night and a good top up after mostly drained.

the iPhone 11 Pro on contrast will get me now 8-14 hours hotspot one charge. Before the last iOS update I could go 14 hours and still have significant battery for rest of day.

3g or one bar signal will kill battery faster as in a full drain on iPhone 11 Pro in 8-10 hours or less. Wifi calls and use will not be very demanding.

when battery gets too old things that use to take 20% of battery can take 50-80% ie you can’t do same for same timeframe. It can continue to slowly die off or it can quit over night.

theres nothing to report with an old battery

if this was a phone one year or less then sure
