“Could not activate cellular data” issue
Hi all. I have been travelling for the last several months, changing SIM cards every 2-3 weeks every time I enter a new country. I have a iPhone XR and up to now I’ve never had issues with my data connections, no matter the network. However, I am now in Jordan with a new package (using Orange) and despite being able to do calls on my phone, I’m unable to use my 4G connection. I keep getting the message “Could not activate cellular data network - turn on cellular data or use wi-fi to access data” every time I try to use an app that requires data. Needless to say that my cellular data is turned on... here is what I tried to fix the issue:
-I confirmed that the problem was not with the carrier. Got some help from their staff to validate that my account was active + I tried the SIM card in another, older version iphone and the data works fine
-I searched the web for every fix I could find and tried them all... resetting network setttings, trying to configure APN (don’t seem to have this option on XR), deleting profiles (didn’t seem to have any), etc - without success
-What I finally managed to do was to go in Cellular > Cellular data options > Voice and Data and from there change my selection from one of the 4G options (with VoLTE on or off) to 3G. With 3G only, the problem goes away
As such, the problem seems to be with the 4G connection... any advice on how to resolve this?
Thanks in advance
