MacBook Air 2019 HDMI no Sound through T.V.?

Brand New MacBook Air 2019 running O.S. Mojave 10.14.6 Using a J5create USB -C Multi connector, 30hz. Trying to get sound to work through USB - C/HDMI multi connector to T.V. Have Video but sound still runs through MacBook Air speakers. Have tried many options via Sound Preferences, MIDI Audio Utility etc. My T.V. (s) never show up in the Output options on Sound Preferences and I never see HDMI as a choice in Audio MIDI Utility. It seems the T.V.'s are not recognized by the MacBook Air. Will the 60hz connector help with sound issues or is that for video only?
