Hey friends, my iPhone's screen will not show anything but a black screen. The device is still live, as I continue to receive notifications via vibrate, but the screen won't display any of the messages. I have tried to reset using button cues (Ie. holding the on/off button and the home button down at the same time), but that has not seen any success either.
Please help!!

If this is an iPhone 8 like you said above, then the way to force restart it is actually as follows:
Press volume up button once
Press volume down button once
Press and hold off button until you see the apple logo on the screen
