Speech Recognition Vocabulary feature not available

I am using Catalina and as part of the accessibility features of MacOS, need the Vocabulary feature / button to be enabled so that I can add custom words for Dictation to be usable. Without the ability to add custom vocabulary, Dictation is unworkable for me.

Since Nuance has discontinued Dragon Professional Individual for Mac, it is becoming increasingly difficult for disabled users to use the Mac. It is essential that Apple fixes the problem and enables speech recognition to support user-added custom words and also speaker-dependent continuous speech recognition that can learn my user corrections.

I think that has been shifted over to the new Voice Control that is enabled in the Accessibility preference panel. See Create a Custom Vocabulary for Voice Control. Also, see Use Voice Control on your Mac - Apple Support, Dictation changes in Catalina – for the worse?, and Last Week on My Mac- Dictation, resources, and change – The Eclectic Light Company.

This is about all there is for Catalina at this time. I share your frustration.

Thanks for the input and links Kappy. I hadn't considered the potential of US English being required (a limitation), so will investigate that. But I do hope that Apple proceeds to develop and roll this out properly as since Dragon ceased to be able to be used, we are now reliant on Apple developing their product to at least be a comparable alternative.
