How do I get rid of the "Congratulations you won" virus from Chrome on my MacBook?

Download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac. It’s the only one recommended by Apple Support folks.

There are tons of phony Flash Player install out on there. Never install an update for Flash from a pop-up. Only from the Official Adobe Website or from within System Preferences > Flash Player > check for updates.

Deleting the Flash app may have solved it. You'll need to see if it comes back.

Yes, once you delete one of those redirects, it will come back if you visit the same infected website. There's nothing you can do, it's the WP's issue. Let them know. But I'm sure they are already on it.

It has not appeared again, so either running Malwarebytes a few times did the trick, or the Washington Post caught it and fixed it. I hope this is my last update...

We'll see if it works. After running it, I was informed that it found nothing. Earlier, I had removed a recent "Flash" app I loaded a few days ago. I am wondering if that was the problem. It had the lower case "f" logo, but it was brown, not red in color.
