iMovie in Mojave on 2018 MacBook Pro will not duplicate some projects

I use prior projects as a template for new videos of same type (same intro/outro). When on the Projects tab, I try to duplicate the most recent but sometimes clicking on "Duplicate this project" does nothing - no error, no warning, just no action. What could be the problem?

Thanks!

It might be a corrupt preference causing that. Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can duplicate a project.

A workaround would be to open Project No. 1 and do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy, of the media in the project and then Edit/Paste it into a newly created project No. 2. Your edits will carry over.
