is it fair that the authorized dealer ask for as much as 800$ to replace my device with refurbish one???
I think Apple is running a scam and want us to believe that they are replacing our device with new ones but the truth they are handing over a refurbish rubbish device and make us pay almost close to what we pay for new in box devices.

Apple will only offer you a refurbished device, if the repair is too costly, for example, or it can't be repaired because of damaged hardware.
A refurbished device has new display, backside, battery, all buttons have been replaced as well. You really can't tell the difference, compared to a brand new one from the shop.
I totally get that!
But, a refurbished device is no rubbish device. It has been probably inspected more carefully that those phones, coming directly from the factory.
I had to get two replacement iPhones, one had water damage, the other a shattered display. Since they were both covered by an insurance, they did not cost me those 800$, but, they were absolutely in topp condition, just as if I bought them online from Apple.
And, you might take in consideration, that not everybody has the extra money to buy a brand new phone. So the reduced price is not such a bad deal.
A service replacement could be a new device.

if you gonna pay 800$ for rubbish device and give them yours simply add another 400$ and get a new boxed device and you can keep yours as well.
