Custom Ringtones

Hello,

Recently I wanted to make a custom ringtone, so I downloaded a file, and converted it + shortened it. It is 23 seconds, and the extension is an .m4r, but when I try to add it to the tones tab on itunes, it does not show up. It recognizes the file(It shows a green plus mark with a blue outline) but does not add it to the tones file. I've checked the file description and it says it is a ringtone. Could the issue be because my Macbook is running a old OS?

My iPhone is running ios 13.1.3, and my mac is running macOS Sierra 10.12.6

ringtone file won't copy to Tones After more than 4 hours of learning and work, I finally found the way to convert my music clip to m4r format using itune, first limit the length and then convert to AAC -- this option was not available but could be selected in the preference -- not clear in many of the instructions. Now a 29 sec clip is finally created with the correct file extension m4r (generated by conversion instead of "rename"). I use the drag and drop, control-C and -V, or copy and paste, none of these was able to put the clip into the TONES folder. Soooo frustrating, I start realizing why people are saying Apple is as user friendly as its Android competitors. I can't believe I have spent several days but still can't install my own ringtone. Please someone give a professional answer. Many thanks.

Can't move custom ringtones to Tones folder on iPhone 6S Plus I created several ringtones from songs. I followed directions I found online that said to select the song in iTunes on my desktop iMac, create a start and stop time no longer than 30 seconds, save it as an AAC file, drag the file to my desktop, change the extension from m4a to m4r, then go to the Tones folder on my iPhone in iTunes and drag the file into the window. Unfortunately when I drag the file, it gets stored in Music and not in Tones and no matter what I do (drag, copy and paste, etc.), the file won't move. Any suggestions? I'm running Mojave 10.14.5 on my iMac and iOS 12.2 on my iPhone. Thanks, Lloyd

Ringtone sync problem Hi, I have created a new ringtone but it will not sync into my iPhone X Tones directory from iTunes on my MacBook. It has synced into the Music directory and I cannot find a way of moving it into Tones. The tone is 29 seconds long and has the m4r extension so I am at a loss to discover what has gone wrong. I am running iTunes 12.8. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. David
