I need a general guide to get me up to speed with FCPro X

I've just purchased the new MacBook Pro 16 and have FCPro x (10.4.8) pre-loaded. I was very familiar with the old FC Express and used it constantly for years before it was replaced. I'm also familar with iMovie but now need a general guide to get me up to speed with FCPro X. On Amazon so many of the manuals are dated. One "...for dummies" was published in 2004! Can anyone suggest a "current" up to day book I can buy. Thanks.

Hi 1941

Luis' suggestions are great ones!

Check out http://www.fcp.co Lots of great resources and links.

Lots of other great videos available too.

One word of advice if I may… Do your very best to forget what you learned from FCE. Best to start with fresh clean slate. FCPX is a very different animal and personally I find so much better than FCP7. Better file management, faster, meta-data, stable, but for me, I love the magnetic timeline. Many people try to fight it and want "Tracks" but if you embrace it, magnetic timeline is amazing. Lots of great new features with free updates. I like the Color Corrections controls a lot.

Hey congratulations on the MBP16, looks like a great computer. Been eyeing one myself.

Hope this Helps, Greg

I have two very good suggestions for you, and both are free.

1) The Izzyvideo introductory course. It is amazing that this is free. Izzy is a great teacher, his videos are very well done and it even includes the media, so you can reproduce exactly what is being taught.

2) You can't go wrong with any teaching material from Rippletraining. Start with the course that works inside Final Cut Pro itself. It can be downloaded for free from the mac App Store. "Getting Started for FCP 10.4"

Then if you want they have all sorts of excellent training for FCP X, Motion, etc.
