My Macbook won't open PDF files, and I cannot delete them

The question would be is there something I need to do to fix this? Not being able to view them is one thing but i'm annoyed that I can't trash these pdf files

Hey there jd266,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues with some PDF files on your Mac. I’ll be happy to help.

What exactly happens when you try to open or trash a PDF file? Is there an error message that provides any info? Are you attempting to open this in Preview or another app? Try with Preview and see if that works:

View PDFs and images in Preview on Mac

If not, check the permissions of the files and make sure you’re allowed to read and edit them. This link can help with how to do this:

If you don’t have permission to open a file or folder on Mac

You may also want to see if you can open these or trash them in safe mode:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

This link has some steps that may help as well:

If you can't empty the Trash on your Mac

I hope this helps.
