iPad locked after auto update, passcode issue

So this happened to me this morning and I never set up a security code. After reading posts it seemed the only way to get into the device was a restore option, which I didn’t want. It dawned on me that maybe it’s a generic default passcode so I tried 123456, it worked. I know it’s been some time since the replies to this issue were posted, but I’m just putting this out there in case any one else runs into this issue in the future and goes searching for a solution like I did!
