Mac dont enter Usb bootloader and even internet recovery mode

2yrs back my macbook air 13" 'power key' stopped working, since then I try not shutdown Mac and even if it shuts down, I open the back cover remove battery connection and attach charger , Mac turns on and then I reconnect battery connector,

But today in recovery mode I accidentally erased Macintosh HDD hard disk, so now no os is there on the startup disk, I tried to reinstall the os from option Reinstall Mac OS X on recovery mode , it says download files is missing, then

I tried Usb bootloader method but restarting Mac and then pressing option key at and exen after chime sound(i tried both) dont start boot mode, and it start recovery mode only.

I thought to give Internet recovery a try but afrer many attempts i can't enter into internet recovery mode after pressing alt + command + R keys just after the restart (i cant shutdown laptop and then press power key and then other keys bcz I mentioned earlier my power key doesn't work.

I read somewhere that resetting smc would help to enter internet recovery mode but smc won't reset without power key

Pls help me, i cant use laptop , i am completely *#cked up due to power key not working. Help me to enter internet recovery mode/bootloader mode without use of power key

Macs are very picky about the USB sticks used for booting. Try using another brand of USB stick or you can use an external USB drive for the installer.

FYI, it is best to hold the startup keys just after the startup chime. A lot of times holding the startup keys earlier will not work and can perhaps keep the computer from booting until the keys are released.

What is the exact model of your laptop? You can get this information by entering your serial number here or here.

Hello rajdng5!

Welcome to and thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that you're trying to boot your Mac into macOS Internet Recovery.

If you are able to power on your Mac, follow these steps from the article, About macOS Recovery:

"If you can't start up from macOS Recovery

If your Mac can't start up from the built-in recovery system, it might automatically try to start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet. When that happens, you see a spinning globe instead of an Apple logo during startup.

To manually start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet, press and hold Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R at startup. Learn more about these key combinations.

If your Mac still can't start up from macOS Recovery, you might need to start up from another disk or volume, or use a bootable installer.

macOS Recovery over the Internet, the Reinstall macOS utility, and the Get Help Online utility all require an Internet connection. If you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, move your pointer to the top of the screen, then choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu  in the menu bar."

I hope the information helps you!

Cheers.
