If you both set up each-others cell numbers as backup trusted SMS capable numbers, you can each use each-others devices as a backup number for AppleID 2 factor authentication codes.
what if each other doesn’t have a backup number set up
Then you only have one number to receive the code and if you don't have access to that device for some reason, you can't sign in.
