I am just trying to set up my new MacBook Air and I get to the point where it asks you to press escape to hear instructions and nothing happens, it just hangs there. Help please

How do I proceed from here please?

Try the following:

Power-down the MacBook Air (MBA). Then power it back up to see if it will continue with the setup process.
If it does not, try temporarily connecting it to your local router with an Ethernet cable. Since the new MBAs don't come with an Ethernet port, you will need a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter for this. Getting one, regardless, will come in handy in the future. Once connected, try a setup process again.
