I am just trying to set up my new MacBook Air and I get to the point where it asks you to press escape to hear instructions and nothing happens, it just hangs there. Help please

How do I proceed from here please?

Try the following:

  • Power-down the MacBook Air (MBA). Then power it back up to see if it will continue with the setup process.
  • If it does not, try temporarily connecting it to your local router with an Ethernet cable. Since the new MBAs don't come with an Ethernet port, you will need a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter for this. Getting one, regardless, will come in handy in the future. Once connected, try a setup process again.
