buying songs from music app

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that I had an Apple Music subscription that I canceled, or if this feature has been done away with in the latest iOS, but I can't seem to purchase music from the app anymore. It used to be that when I went to an album I had purchased and tapped "show complete album," there would be options to buy the songs right there. Now when I do so, I tap the song since there's no buy button anymore, and it wants me to renew my Apple Music subscription. Has the ability to buy songs from the music app been done away with in the latest iOS, or did I lose that ability when I got Apple Music? If the latter, is there any way for me to get it back?

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Hey bobdavcav,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you're trying to purchase songs or an album to add to your music collection, and I'd like to help.

When it comes to purchasing music to add to your music collection, you'll want to use the iTunes Store app instead of the Music app, now that you are no longer an Apple Music subscriber. Learn more about this here: Add and download music from Apple Music or the iTunes Store - Apple Support.

Best regards.
