Library path (Applies to MacOS & Windows 10)

I have seperate SSDs for media storage. Currently using a 2 TB ssd (F:\) for music storage.

I want iTunes (MacOS & Windows[10] platforms) to use "F:" as the base for my library. I DO NOT want "F:\iTunes\iTunes Media" used.

I was able to do this on an older versions of iTunes. I have the various folders iTunes automatically creates AND the config & library files sitting where they have been for the past two years yet iTunes now refuses to use those files.

Restoring to a old image and it works as I want.

Did Apple purposely remove this behavior? If not... want actually needs to be done to prevent iTunes from automatically changing / ignoring the folder location when I set it to the root of a drive?

This bug seems to go back to iTunes 12.9.4, although I'm not sure if it impacts everyone or if several factors are involved. Those affected find that iTunes won't remember their chosen media folder and it always wants to use iTunes Media in the folder where the iTunes Library.itl file is stored. I don't think the choice of a root folder as the media folder is significant. Using the standard layout of iTunes\iTunes Media with the .itl file in the iTunes folder removes the impact of this bug, and also makes it easier to move the library between systems.
