Catalina Mouse and Keyboard response issues

I purchased a new Mac Mini. The magic mouse and keyboard stop working if they are not used for more than about a minute. Sometimes I can get them working by shutting them off and turning them back on. Sometimes I have to restart the computer to get them to work. I had the same issue when I updated my Macbook Pro to Catalina and reloading the OS fixed it. I have tried this twice with the new Mac Mini and it did not help. I read a couple of articles which said to delete some files in the library/preferences folder of the computer but I searched for them and they are not in this computer. Any ideas on other things to try?

I took the computer to the Apple store and they helped me diagnose the problem. It turned out to be the HDMI cable to the monitor creating EMI which was interfering with the mouse and keyboard signal. Replacing the HDMI cable fixed the problem.
