Maximum Brightness problem with iMac 2017

Hi, whenever i wake my iMac Retina 2017 from screen off, the display would automatically turn on with maximum screen brightness, regardless of me ticking the auto-brightness or not in the settings.

iMac display increases brightness after sleep I set my iMac display brightness to about 70% in Preferences. But each morning when it wakes up from sleep, it's set on max, and I have to turn it down on the keyboard. I've also unchecked "Automatically adjust brightness." Any idea what's going on?

MacBook Pro screen brightness changes by itself I have seen this question asked before but it never seems to be resolved, so just asking if this is a universal issue? Basically, I like my screen bright and set it to full brightness but every time my computer sleeps it defaults back to a particular brightness. Do not have "automatically adjust brightness" or "true tone" selected

As a test...

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
