iPadOS keyboard is blank in Spotlight

In iPadOS my keyboard is blank when trying to search in spotlight. I see the keyboard, but it’s an empty box, there are not actual keys to tap on. Some notes, based on things I’ve tried to fix it.

  • This happens weather the keyboard is docked or floating.
  • I don’t have this problem anywhere else in iPadOS or in any app, only in Spotlight.
  • It has persisted through every update to iPadOS from 13.1 (I never installed 13.0) through to 13.3.
  • Restarting the iPad can temporarily resolve the issue, but it always goes away agin.
  • I’ve uninstalled all third-party keyboards, it hasn’t helped.
  • I can use an external keyboard. I can type into the search box when using my Smart Keyboard.
  • I’m using the 11” iPad Pro
  • I haven’t experienced this issue on my iPhone running iOS 13.

Hello,

Try resetting iPad's settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Be certain you do not select Erase All Content and Settings as this will erase all of your information. It is a good idea to perform a backup of your iPad prior to resetting its settings.
