How do I share my pictures with other users on my MacMimi. My family in other words.

First how many times do I have to log in and type this before it is accepted. Is this a test of my determination before you dein to answer my question?

How do I share a 'photos' library with other users on my Mac Mini. It is a late 2014 box running macOS 10.15.2.

I do not want to use the cloud.

Transfer few photos from primary admin account to secondary admin account created in users and groups .

( 1) Create a new admin account in users and groups see the article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mtusr001/mac

( 2 ) Log out primary account from apple logo and then sign in with second admin account .

( 3 ) Click on continue .

( 4 ) Don’t sign in with your existing Apple ID and password , click on set up later .

( 5 ) A pop up window appears are you sure you want to skip signing in with an Apple ID ? An Apple ID is used to automatically set up the iTunes Store , App Store , iCloud and , more .

( a ) don’t skip ( b ) skip , click on skip

( 6 ) The box of enable ask Siri is checked by default , click on continue .

( 7 ) Choose your look ( a ) light ( b ) dark click the desired option and click on continue .

( 8 ) Setting up your Mac ( three right check marks will appear ) .

( 9 ) Click on system preferences > accessibility > mouse and trackpad > trackpad options , check the box of enable dragging with three fingers drag and click on ok .

( 10 ) Take cursor on top menu bar Go > computer > Macintosh HD > users > tap on primary user name you will see desktops and another folder documents having red ( -) sign it means at present you can’t read and write permissions , tap the documents folder > click on get info , open the small golden lock and enter the admin password for admin account .

( 11 ) Tap the first admin account , right click on it and use get info and change it to read only , click on gear icon and apply on enclosed folder and click on done .

( 12 ) Open system preferences > click on iCloud enter your Apple ID and password , click on next .

( 13 ) Set up 2FA , click on not now .

( 14 ) Do not upgrade Apple ID security ? ( a ) do not upgrade ( b ) upgrade account security , click on do not upgrade , the circle rotates for a while .

( 15 ) A pop up window appears ( a ) use iCloud for your documents ( b ) use find my Mac the boxes are checked for these - click on next .

( 16 ) Allow find my Mac to use the location of this Mac ( a ) not now ( b ) allow , click on allow

( 17 ) Enter the Apple ID and password to set up iCloud Keychain and click on ok .

( 18 ) Enter six digit iCloud Keychain verification code and click on next , the country code is written , enter the trusted number in the next field .

( 19 ) Open photos app and click on not now , no photos will sync from the server .

( 20 ) Again click on Go > computer > Macintosh HD > users > tap first admin account > downloads > iCloud photos , create a new folder on the desktop and drag and drop selected photos on the desktop .

( 21 ) Close the window again , open photo application and drag and drop the photos from the desktop to photos folder .

( 22 ) Open photos preferences > click on iCloud > you can see iCloud photos > automatically upload and store all your photos and videos in iCloud , so you can access them from any of your device on the web is unchecked - keep it as unchecked , so that rest of photos that were on iCloud server will not sync .

More easier method to transfer photos from primary admin account to secondary admin account .

Open photo application , select 4 photos > click on file > export 4 photos > in the upcoming window click on export , the location will be downloads > again click on export ( the quantity of photos is just for reference ) .

( 1) Create a new admin account in users and groups .

( 10 ) Click on Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > Users > click on primary admin account > Downloads , select the photos , copy them ( use command and C keys ) and drag and drop over the desktop .

( 11 ) Open photo application and click on get started again drag and drop each photo from the desktop into the application .

No that is just wrong. Why would I, or anyone, want to have everything in the cloud? I want to access my photos when I don't have an internet connection and I don't want Apple taking ownership of my families memories.

Why is this the case? What is reason? How do I get answers to this? I do not think it is a technical issue it must be a political or marketing decision. What will it take to change someones mind? Or do I need to find another photo manager?

Come on Apple do we really need the would in the cloud?

Yeah. Two reasons for trying this forum. One my interaction with Apple support has so far not resulted in any response and I hope this forum will be monitored. Secondly I hoped that others who may see this would agree that the cloud should not be the only answer so we can start something.

I guess I had an outside hope that someone here had found the answer.

Thanks for now. Lets see if anyone else takes it up.

Thank you for the very detailed explanation however I guess I should have expected something like that with my years of experience!

My fault sorry. After being told I had to retype the question so many times and having visitors I guess I got a little scatter brained. I very sorry about that.

What I want to do is not 'move' or 'copy' the photographs, for which I would use 'mv' or 'cp', or the inport and export option in Photos. Rather I want to share access to a 'Photos Library' so any member of the family, all of whom are users, can look at and add to the family library. As this OS is based on a Unix/Linux kernel or core I would think is should be quite possible so I wonder if it is not a simple option within Photos because of some 'policy' but I do not understand why that would be the case.

By the way I did this with iPhoto, and kept other pictures separate with Aperture or other libraries, but that method will not work now.

Thank you and sorry for the confusion I guess I do not make a good user!
