Poor sound through Bluetooth speaker

Yesterday I connected my iPad mini (newest gen) to my Bluetooth speaker and it worked great. Sound quality good. All the buttons work. Today I tried to listen again and it sounds like I'm tuning into a low service radio station and the speakers skip button isn't working on my iPad. I tried to see if it was the speaker or iPad so I disconnected and tried from my iPod touch (6th gen) and it still works great with the skip button and audio quality. Turned my Bluetooth off on all other devices. The iPad is connected to the speaker. It just sounds like **** and won't let me skip songs anymore. Idk what changed.
