IPad Pro + Apple Pencil unresponsive in certain areas of the tablet

So I just got a new IPad Pro for Christmas and an Apple Pencil, however as soon as I paired them up and tested it out, the pairing did not work.

The Apple Pencil is charged and paired, the tip is fine. It works in certain areas of the tablet’s surface, but others are lagging or completely unresponsive.

I tried a different stylus and faced the same issue, it seems as if the problem is with the IPad’s screen and receptivity rather than the Pencil. When I touch it with my finger it works just fine, but not with any type of pencil/stylus.
