I can't remove the BeAware malware. When I try to drag it to the trash, I get a message that says it can't be added to the trash because it's currently running. I can't figure out how to quit the application because I don't know where it's "running." I don't want to download any 3rd party applications to remove this app. Please help!

You mention that you don't want to download any third-party apps, but in order to remove this malware "infection" there are two very trusted apps that you should reconsider your position on. Those are EtreCheck and Malwarebytes for Mac. Trying to remove malware manually, is a "hit and miss" process without using these types of apps.
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
