Hello peterfrommaartensdijk,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! I understand Safari is slow after upgrading to macOS Catalina. I'm happy to assist you with this.

There's several things that could cause the issue you're having so let's start with some basic isolation steps. First, boot into safe mode to see if the same thing happens:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Next, create a new user account to test in. This will determine if the issue is user specific or system wide: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

The results from these steps will determine what needs to be done next.

Best regards.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

I have reposted this question here:

You may want to download and run an EtreCheck (link is in the new discussion). If you want, look up this "app" to verify its legitimacy, but it has been recommended to me from multiple people on this site, so I trust it, and have run it on 2 computers.
