FCPX won’t let me use a sound effect - keeps saying im out of space even though i have almost 600G available - it also still lets me import my Videos - can someone please point me in the right direction on how i fix this - both app and Mac are up to date as well
well after much deliberationI just decided to safe myself the work and delete the app and reinstall it!
Problem solved! I am assuming that there was a corrupt file some where as this was the first time I was using these sound effects. I thank you all for your assistance and hope you all have a happy year!

Go to System Prefs Security and make sure FCP has Full Disk Access.
Thanks. First trash preferences if you haven’t. Hold Opt-CMC as you launch the application. Next select the effect and press the Q key. Probably the same thing will happen. If so try moving the application to the trash and reinstalling from the App Store.

I didn’t so I corrected that- but the issue is still there - I can add footage though

I was dragging the sound effect from the sound effect library in FCP - the ones that come with the program
The effects all look like any other audio clip would in my library
No it’s set to video and audio
The color of the icon is not right. Are you dragging from the audio browser? What do the effects look like in the browser? Post a screenshot. To make a screenshot, press Shift-Cmd-4 and drag a box around the area you want to capture. The screenshot will be saved to the Desktop.
What version of the application and the os are you using?
10.4.8 for the FCPX and my Mac is running Catalina 10.15.2
