Apple Watch takes 2 days to update

I’m trying to set up the Apple Watch series 4 but before I do so it says I must update the software. The estimated time to do this update is 2 days. Surely there must be a quicker way

It stayed on 2 days for an hour then came down to 1 day. Gradually got shorter and now less than an hour. Annoying really as if it had said 6 hours at the start then I could have accepted that. Live and learn.

When an update starts it's very common for the app to say x number of days but this usally comes down very quickly,my last update said 15 hours but it actually took 1 hour.If it stays on 2 days for a long time then there is some kind of problem with the update process.
