HDR Comes and Goes (mostly goes) While Viewing Apple TV on My Roku Ultra (2019). No HDR issues with Netflix or Amazon Prime

HDR Does not work properly when viewing any HDR events. Some episodes appear in HDR while most are not. This is only an issue with Apple TV events. All HDR events play fine when streaming from Netflix or Amazon Prime. I have an LG C8 OLED TV.

Hi Joseph_S. Unfortunately, The article does not apply to my situation. Firstly, I am using a Roku Ultra and the inconsistent nature of HDR is only observed when viewing AppleTV events. This issue NEVER occurs while viewing any HDR event on Netflix and Amazon Prime on the same hardware. For, example, most episodes of "The Morning Show" only play in HD while only two or three play in HDR. The next day, the same issue is observed and the exact same episodes will play in HD and HDR. It never changes. It appears as if not all episodes are in HDR, and I doubt that is the case.

Hiya Moman19,

The Apple Support Communities really appreciate that you decided to post this issue. It appears that you’re not consistently seeing HDR quality on content that should support it. I’m happy to assist.

Based on your description, I highly recommend giving the steps in this article a try: About 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision on your Apple TV 4K

That article also mentions some steps related to audio settings. Feel free to disregard those as they don’t apply to the issue you described.

Wishing you the best!

Hi. This issue continues on my LG C8 TV thru my 2019 Roku Ultra. Both devices are running the latest firmware. I must repeat my question: How's can only SOME episodes of any given series play in HDR while others only play in HD? With "Servant", for example, episodes 2,5,6,7,& 8 will always play in HDR but episodes 1,3,& 4 will only play in HD. This inconsistency only happens while viewing Apple TV events and never occurs with Netflix or Amazon Prime.
