Time Machine Backup - No backup unable to launch OS

Hello, I am giving my MacBook Air to my inlaw, I deleted my data files and somehow on restart the OS was deleted. I presume. Now when I start up I get a folder with a question mark flashing, it just sits there flashing.

You can either reinstall macOS, or have its recipient do that when he or she receives it.


Read What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac. Step 6 describes erasing the Mac (which it seems you did) followed by reinstalling macOS (which seems to be required).
