Updating iPad 2017 to iOS 13

I have not updated the ios on my new iPad 2017 since purchasing it 2 years ago. I finally was forced to do so, as I wanted to download Disney plus. The iPad notified me that I had to have iOS 11 or later. So I started the update. The screen is frozen on a white screen with a black apple in the middle of the screen. The update bar is no longer there. Once in a while, the screen goes black for a second or two, then the apple logo appears again. I have tried resetting by holding the home button and power button down simultaneously. Nothing has worked. Any ideas? This has continued now for several hours. ...feeling very frustrated with apple right now!
